Carol Salisbury first noticed she was losing her hair during her mid-forties. An ophthalmic technician, she works with surgeons, receives new patients and makes first impressions on a daily basis. “I felt like people were always looking at the top of my head, not my eyes. Especially men. I tried to make it [my hair] look good, but having thin hair is terrible.”
As her hair started to thin, Carol realized it could be the combination of a stressful lifestyle and family history. Her grandmother suffered from thyroid problems and lost all of her hair at a very young age, and Carol’s brother also suffers from thinning hair. Determined to take action, Carol paid off her kid’s student loans and knew what she needed to do. “I was not going to walk around with a [hair] piece…and I was not wearing a wig. I needed it. I needed it for my psyche.” So after years of seeing our ads on TV, she finally gave me a call.
Carol shared with me that she liked the open door policy and relaxed atmosphere we strive to create at LHTA. In the initial consultation, I walked her through the entire process, showed her how and where the procedures take place and above all, gave her realistic expectations-in her case, a minimum of 40% increase in hair density after it all grows in. And, this is hair that she now can cut, curl, color and style any way she wishes.
It’s been a year and half since Carol’s surgery and while many people have forgotten about her formerly thinning hair, she remembers what it felt like and is very proud of her own growing hair today. “I don’t have to be so concerned about the comb over. I let my hair come in naturally. It looks good, and I receive compliments.”
Carol enjoys sharing her positive experience and helping women like herself come to the decision that’s best for them. “It helped me immensely, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.”
