Brazilian Association of Hair Restoration Meeting
I am visiting Brazil at the invitation of the Brazilian Association of Hair Restoration Surgeons to speak at their scientific meeting on the coast of Brazil “nearby” to Saõ Paulo. It’s a three and a half hour bus ride through the mountains of the beautiful tropical rainforest where I saw at least three waterfalls cascading down the mountain—stunning!
While in Saõ Paulo, a city of nearly 20 million people and the financial capital of all of South America, I spent time visiting a colleague, Dr. Antonio Ruston, at his exquisitely modern clinic. His surgical suite and entire office were immaculate, welcoming, and elegant. Other colleagues from around the world were also impressed with the entire experience capped off by a wonderful cocktail party with live music, great appetizers and the local drink—the Caipirinha.
One of the most special aspects of my field is that colleagues welcome one another into their lives with open arms and freely share their knowledge and experience. Some of the most useful “tricks of the trade” come from these informal gatherings versus formal lectures. I have been blessed for all of these years to both learn and teach in experiences such as this one at wonderful places throughout the world.
