Dr. Mary Lopresti, DO Joins Leonard Hair Transplant Associates as a Hair Restoration Surgeon
Newton Centre, MA – (March 22, 2022) – Leonard Hair Transplant Associates (LHTA), a trusted leader in providing hair restoration services across New England for more than 30 years, proudly announces that Dr. Mary Lopresti, DO has joined its staff as a hair restoration surgeon. Dr. Mary Lopresti joins her husband, Chief Surgeon Dr. Matthew Lopresti, to service LHTA’s patients with a wide range of specialized, industry-leading hair restoration options.
“It is with great pride that I announce Dr. Mary Lopresti’s appointment to the position of hair restoration surgeon,” said Dr. Matthew Lopresti, Chief Surgeon, Leonard Hair Transplant Associates (LHTA). “Her extensive experience in medicine and her caring approach to patients make her a wonderful addition to the practice.”
Dr. Mary Lopresti is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and earned her Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Neurobiology in 2002. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) status from the University of New England in 2008 and attended residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center for Internal Medicine. Dr. Lopresti went on to specialize in hematology-oncology and completed her fellowship at the University of Massachusetts in 2008. Her professional career began at Providence, Rhode Island’s Lifespan Career Institute where she was a hematology-oncology attending physician and an assistant professor at Brown University’s Warren Alpert Medical School. Academically, she had the role of associate program director of the Brown’s hematology-oncology fellowship program for six years.
Dr. Lopresti subspecialized in breast and gynecologic-medical oncology and later became the director of the Young Women’s Cancer Program. She also founded the Young Fight Strong Program (RI) for women under 45 with breast or gynecologic malignancy. Dr. Lopresti was the primary investigator of multiple clinical trials in women’s cancer and has publications in the field. One particular trial she initiated supports childcare for young mothers undergoing chemotherapy and may be pivotal in allowing women compensation for this basic need in the future. While at Lifespan, she also volunteered her time leading support groups, outings, and educational symposiums for the young women of the cancer practice.
“My experience in caring for oncology patients for the past 10 years has allowed me to see the effects of chemotherapy induced hair loss on patients. Even those cured from cancer can still suffer from a negative body-image in part due to hair thinning or frank loss. This motivated me to do research in the topic and it became an interest. When I felt the pull for a career change, hair restoration was the perfect fit.” said Dr. Mary Lopresti, DO, Hair Restoration Surgeon, Leonard Hair Transplant Associates (LHTA). “I can’t be more thrilled to join my husband in the practice and be able to help patients regain their confidence.”
